Suomenlinna is a district of Helsinki, and you can reach it the same way as any other part of the city: by public transport. The ferry is part of HSL public transport, operated by Suomenlinnan Liikenne Oy, and runs daily from early morning until the small hours. In summer, FRS Finland also operates a waterbus from Market Square, but this is a different boat, from a different pier, with its own tickets.

This guide covers the HSL ferry departure point, timetable rhythm, ticket and return from the island. If you’re wondering whether to choose the waterbus in summer, read the differences between the ferry and waterbus. If you already know how to get there, Suomenlinna attractions will help you plan your day on the island.
